After a long day's work, nothing beat the feeling of seeing a surprise bloom.

Sweet Lilian, a gift from a dear friend, surprised me with a bloom. I got this bulb late 2009, and the last boom was in Dec 2009, and 16 months later, in Apr 2011, I can see it blooming again.

Still as beautiful as before, and, after growing in this hot and humid tropics, the red stripes and veining are less pronounced.

Here is the picture of the bloom in 2009.

  2. Hi Cris!

    I have no special formula.

Sometimes, cutting the foliage helps :-)

If you are willing to put in more effort, you could put the cleaned bulb (without foliage) in the vegetable compartment in the fridge for about 8 weeks. I haven't tried this method yet :-)

  3. Hi H, many tanks for your answer. I've never tried also to put them in the fridge. Som people say that we shall not cut the folliage, because is the folliage that nurrish the bulb. Maybe I shall fertilize mine more, don't you think? With a more % of K .
